All pages that link from this page refer to the material for OUINET-A.
The replacement networks are simply ethernet implementations.
The original OUINET-A network (an AT&T ISN network) is being removed from service.
It has served as the backup network to OUINET-B (an ATM network).
OUINET-B is being retained as the backup network to OUINET-C (a gigabit network).
OUINET-A was installed in the mid-1980's and has served into 2002.
The fiber originally installed as part of the OUINET-A project is now being reused
as part of the OUINET-C project.
Connectivity on OUINET-A was: asynchronous at speeds up to 19,200 bits per second,
synchronous at speeds up to 9600 bits per second, and ethernet transport at speeds up to 1,250,000 bits per second.
OUINET-C carries 800 times as much data (in one second) as OUINET-A.
