1. Use of the World Blazer modem pool (WBMP) is restricted to UL Lafayette staff as outlined in written approval by the Director of Information Networks. Modems are to be used only for purposes directly-related to the primary mission of the University.
  2. Modem pool use is restricted as part of the UL Lafayette Policies on Access and Usage of Computers and Networks dated June 6, 1989. Each modem is a network facility as defined in the policy. A copy of the policy is on the UL Lafayette Information Networks homepage.
  3. Dial (337) 482-XXXX, if you receive the message Modem Pool Full Try Again all available modems are in use. You may try again later. You will receive the complete telephone number when your access is approved. DO NOT release the WBMP number.
  4. Modems support Bell 103J, 212A, V.22bis, V.23, V.32 and PEP.
  5. Users calling with medium and high modems may need to turn local modem voice detection off. The PEP tones provided are identified as voice tones in some modems.
  6. To determine what port you are on, type the command !w <return> to the Select Service : prompt.
  7. Moderately-related, unrelated, illegal and abusive usage are not appropriate and will be considered wasteful, abusive and theft committed against users attempting to complete primary mission activities.
