OUITEL Special Dial Tones

This information applies to campus analog telephones only (with telephone numbers 337-482-XXXX or 337-851-XXXX and telephones without name / number display). Users of campus black digital phones can ignore this information.

OUITEL now has three (3) dial tones that analog telephone users might hear. The Normal and Message Waiting dial tones are the same ones that have been in use since 1994. The Call Diverted dial tone (added in 2006) has been added to help users know when their phone has been programmed to limit receiving calls. This normally happens when the user programs the telephone for Call Forwarding or activates No-Calls.

The following table summerizes the operation of Special Dial Tones. If your computer has speakers turn them on. Click on the third column to hear the dial tone.
