Information Networks provides the University of Louisiana at Lafayette with five distinctive areas of service.
It is Information Networks' responsibility and goal to strive for the best possible outcome in assisting and providing solutions to communication problems.
OUINET (Overall University Information NETwork) provides connectivity among the computing facilities. The goal is to provide every terminal or PC with the option to connect to all the computational power on campus. Currently all academic buildings are connected by fiber-optic backbone network which has connections to world-wide networks including SURANET and INTERNET.
OUITEL (Overall University Information TELephone) provides telephone communications for the campus. The advanced digital switch provides a multitude of features including call coverage paths, call parking, multi-person conference calling, and complete voice mail services. OUITEL connects you to long distance services via LINC for business calls and an AOS system for personal calls. Your telephone instructions are included in the orientation materials.
OUINET and OUITEL are networks that are designed, installed and maintained by the department of INFORMATION NETWORKS (337-482-6418).
PC SERVICES are available for University owned equipment (pc's, pc peripherals,...etc). Qualified technicians are available in assisting with hardware problems.
OPERATOR SERVICES are staffed by qualified and experienced personnel to assist in obtaining any information needed concerned with the University of Louisiana at Lafayette.
