UL – Lafayette has been the recipient of Access Grid equipment
from the Louisiana Board of Regents. Access Grid is an ensemble
of resources including multimedia large-format displays, presentation
and interactive environments, and interfaces to Grid middleware
and to visualization environments. These resources support group-to-group
interactions across the Grid.
UL – Lafayette was able to participate in a series of SuperComputing seminars
via the Access Grid. The classes took place over an eight-week
period with students and faculty from around the country coming
together with the express purpose of learning more about SuperComputing.
Additionally, Media Services has provided a medium through which
University departments can participate in seminars via the web,
saving thousands
of dollars in travel and lodging fees.
